Tournament Timing

The games are scheduled 18 minutes apart and we will be ON TIME all day. Timeliness will be strictly observed. Our tournament rules are structured to maximize the percentage of the match time that the ball is in play. All games, on all fields, will begin at exactly the appointed time. This will not be left to the referee to enforce, though the referee is in control of the match.

The Siren

Three siren sounds will signify that the tournament will begin in five minutes (8:25). At the sound of one siren, loud enough to be heard by everyone at all fields, all games will commence. Seven minutes later, half time begins at the whistle following two sirens. Two minutes later, the second halves commence at the sound of one siren. And seven minutes later, all games end at the whistle following two sirens. There will be two minutes between games.

Rules

Teams will be playing in a pool (Open, Very Open, U19, and Club) and have been randomly assigned two games in that pool, as opposed to playing in a bracket, as this is a social tournament and there are no prior league standings to assess match ups.

Teams will be seeded for the elimination rounds based upon their performance in those first two games.

  • 2 points will be awarded for a win
  • 1 point for a draw with points deciding the seeding for the single elimination rounds (semis in most cases)

At the end of the pool stage, in the event of sides being level on points, the team with the:

  • best points difference will finish higher
  • If the points difference is level then it will be decided on the number of tries scored
  • If it is still level then it will be decided on the toss of a coin between the two captains
